This project was funded by HACT, to explores feedback given by young and older people of Somali heritage in the course of four brainstorming sessions
conducted by Karin Housing Association into inter-generational issues affecting people of Somali heritage in East London
Four separate sessions facilitated between August and October 2009 brought together fifteen young men, women, mothers and fathers of Somali heritage identified through outreach to Karin Housing Association tenants and a wider community. Every attempt has been made to ensure representation of a wide spectrum of views from within this community. Sessions lasted for up to three-four hours
As part of Karin’s outreach and research initiatives, it has therefore given careful consideration to activities through which to ferment better inter-generational relations within a community where a breakdown of traditional values has caused strife for all age groups concerned.
